Francis Poulenc - celebrating a musical life

Jacqueline White (soprano) and Clive Matthews (piano)

To mark the 50th anniversary of his death, Jacqueline White (soprano) and Clive Matthews (piano) present a recital programme entirely devoted to his music that juxtaposes a selection of songs and solo piano music with a performance of L’Histoire de Babar his charming, but rarely heard narrated musical story.

The music, from all six decades of his composing life, ranges from his first published work (1918) to his final collection of songs (1960) and is presented with a commentary that places the programmed music in the context of his other major works and his life in general.
